Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Choose Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy offers a non-invasive, whole-body approach to pain relief and recovery by restoring strength, mobility, and function. Research shows early PT leads to faster, longer-lasting results than relying on pain medications, repeated imaging, injections, or surgery alone.

What Is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is a healthcare specialty focused on evaluating and treating movement impairments. Your Doctor of Physical Therapy uses hands-on techniques, targeted exercises, education, and supportive modalities (like heat, ice, or electrical stimulation) to help you move better and feel stronger.

What Conditions Do You Treat?
We address injuries and disorders throughout the neuromusculoskeletal system, including:

  • Sports injuries & overuse syndromes
  • Pre- and post-operative rehabilitation
  • Acute and chronic pain (back, neck, joints)
  • Motor vehicle accident (Auto PIP) and workers’ comp cases
  • Age-related mobility challenges

How Will You Treat Me?
Your individualized program may include:

  • Manual Therapy (joint mobilizations, soft-tissue work)

  • Exercise Prescription (strength, flexibility, motor-pattern training)

  • Patient Education (technique coaching, activity modifications)

  • Modalities (heat, ice, electrical stimulation)

Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral?

  • Self-Pay Patients: No referral needed as Oregon’s Direct Access law lets you schedule immediately.
  • Insurance Patients: Some insurers (Medicare, OHP, HMOs, Workers’ Comp) require a referral. We’ll let you know what’s needed.

What Should I Bring and Wear?

  • Bring: Photo ID, insurance or referral paperwork (if applicable), and any relevant imaging reports.

  • Wear: Comfortable, flexible clothing that exposes the treatment area (e.g., shorts for knee issues). Patient gowns are available if needed.

What Happens at My First Appointment?
After any required paperwork, your PT will:

  • Review your medical and injury history
  • Perform a hands-on evaluation (posture, strength, mobility, special tests)
  • Explain your diagnosis and recommended plan
  • Provide a personalized home exercise program and resistance bands at no extra charge

How Long Is a Session and How Many Will I Need?

  • Session Length: Typically 60 minutes (total appointment time may vary).
  • Number of Visits: Varies by individual. We design each plan to maximize efficiency and long-term results making sure that our patients meet their goals.

Do You Offer Telehealth?
Yes. Virtual visits are available for patients in Oregon who need remote supervision of exercises, progress checks, or education.

Can PT Help Beyond Injury Recovery?
Absolutely. Physical therapy can improve posture, prevent future injuries, enhance athletic performance, and support overall wellness and quality of life.

Will I Pay More for Cash-Based PT?
Often you’ll save. Our transparent, self-pay fees make sure that you pay one clear rate with no hidden costs. Many private plans also offer out-of-network reimbursement; we can help you submit claims.

How Do I Submit an Insurance Claim?

  • Request a superbill from us (includes all provider and treatment codes).
  • Submit it to your insurer (monthly or after treatment).
  • Keep copies for your records—reimbursements typically arrive within weeks.

Which Insurances Do You Accept?

  • Cash-Based / Out-of-Network (Direct Payment)
  • Auto PIP
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Medicare and OHP/Health Share
  • TRICARE/TRIWEST (in process)
